Abstract

Most believe nuclear power is terrifying. The possibility of radiation emission and other sci-fi terrors that could stem from a reactor are supposedly innumerable. However, most do not know that nuclear power is more efficient than the petroleum and renewable energy competition, and that just like the majority of renewable energies, nuclear power avoids the emission of harmful gaseous byproducts that contribute to global warming. With the current power demands due to population growth and the environmental dangers of climate change, maybe it is time to take a closer look at the nuclear option.
